Swede

My husband and I are thinking about growing swede this year. We haven't grown it before and so don't know much about it. Has anyone got some good advice or tips for growing them.

Dont start them too early, May is fine. I start mine off in modules and transplant out when the module if full of roots. They do like a drop of water so try not to let them dry out too much. Harvest as you want them when they are big enough to use.

I'll be a swede newbie this year too, how far apart do you plant them please?

Never done any good with Swedes and that comes from an experienced gardener, Best buy from the Market.

If you want footballs SS about 15-18", if you want nice sized tender ones, about 12" or even slightly closer.
