Thanks for that Alice. The peas I intended using are a mangetout variety but not sure if they would be harvested over a long period and so still strangle the corn. Will put the peas in another part of the garden now and not bother with the three sisters thing.

We've planted out all our corn and beans now, although as others have found, the beans are twice the size of the corn, so we've had to put canes up for them to twine around. The corn is growing, just not at the same rate.

We've planted some of the squashes out, but most are still a little too small to go down to the allotment yet, maybe this weekend.

If necessary, we will let the beans continue up the canes rather than try and twine them round the corn.

Oh well its all a learning curve!

I am growing baby corn this year, they are F1 type. I plant them since early spring (since 2 march, they were first planted indoor for 3 weeks and then 1 week hardening at cold poly tunnel before planted in the ground ) and they are now 4 foot high or a bit more ( I am in south netherland). They were space 20 cm X 20 cm.
2 weeks ago I plated mangetout in between each corn and hoping that it will be 2 sisters. The mangetout are only 15 cm or so and the corn really taking away the whole canopy giving the mangetout only some light I hope it will grow ( the mangetout ).I should have sow the mangetout seed earlier... I can only wait and see for now.
