I use loo rolls for all my peas and beans, for minimum root disturbance. I pack them with compost and stand them up in those plastic mushroom containers from supermarkets, so they don't dry out. Plant out the whole thing, making sure the cardboard doesn't stick up above the soil. Same as with peat pots, it can act as a wick, and dry out the card.
started my french beans off in pots the dwarf veriaty 12plants and planted them between my soft fruit. i didnt have that many beans, trying the climbing veriaty this year..

Climbing variety are good, I am also doing dwarf purple queen again this year but against a south facing wall in the same pots I plan to plant to salad mix (my own blend) and carrots.
It will be my first year with beans too and I'm planning to grow some dwarf french beans (Tendergreen) and some climbing ones (Enorma and Borlotti). I've dug in some strawy manure in trenches where they will go in May... Looking forward to seeing grow!
