The red kidney bean isn't the only kidney bean, but it's the one that most people think of. Basically any bean can be dried and used as a kidney bean. They are filling, cheap & nutritious.

That's very good info,thanks TS.I knew to soak dried beans overnight but I thougt it is to reduce cooking time.Last year I had some Painted Lady(runner)I didn't like pods too much but beans were fabulous.
Now you made me want some pinto and borlotti...
