When did you sow them? I haven't even prepped the bed for the little p words yet. Not even going to think about it until March. Sowed em around March last year and I still got tutted at for being too early. I wasn't. they came up just fine thank you very much

The books often talk about sowing parsnips (see I'm not afraid to say it) in February. I have found that sowing to early seems to increase the risk of them being affected by canker.

Don't worry if you can't get them into the ground yet, there's plenty of time for another sowing. I don't usually bother until March / April time.
It is the doom of man, that they forget.

I know,i wasnt expecting them up for another 3 weeks they came up in 7 days

I shall just use these seedlings (24) as a bit of an experiment to see how they grow in the pots before they would actually need planting out

            nothing ventured nothing gained

March to April for my Parsnip sowing, and May for smaller sweeter ones before the winter frosted ones.

I will be direct sowing in April - worked last year so will do the same this year.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I sowed mine in March last year, and they didn't do well at all. The year before they didn't go in until April, and we had a good crop. We didn't even get one for Christmas last year.
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!
