  • Potato question

    Morning all

Am just ordering my seed potatoes ( 2 salad types and just debating a baking type...all pot grown) and saw Christmas potatoes being advertised with July onwards delivery. Are these more hardy for growing later in the year?? Can they be left outside or would they be better in a greenhouse for christmas growing. Would love to have home grown potatoes at Christmas but dont have anywhere "indoors" I could sensibly grow them if they did need the extra protection!

Right time to actually go outside and DO some gardening since its sunny for once!! Better make the most of the good weather!!

    Cheers!!

    No potato is frost hardy.

The Xmas ones are for indoors/heated greenhouses. But I've yet to hear from anyone who's had a significant crop from them.

Thanks...in that case probably best if I give them a miss and stick to the salad ones!!

I once had a magnificent crop at the allotment. I tried it again the next year - they got blight!
