  • My first seedling of the season

    It's here!!!!!

My first seedling has popped it's head above the compost and is bravely showing the way for all the other seeds to come .

    It's a leek!

Mind you, the look on my poor OHs face was priceless when I shouted "We have a leek" - he had planned an afternoon outside with Ciggy, our battered, 50yr old Series 2 Landy which he is restoring, and suddenly saw his afternoon of oil and diesel being replaced with an afternoon of plumbing and water .

Wrong sort of leak darling .

Keep peering into the chilli and sweet pepper propogators - no sign as yet but they were sown the same day as the Leeks and, according to the seed packet, require the same temperature to germinate, so any time now .

    Regards, a very excited Reet.

Fantastic! I've yet to experience this thrill this year, but it's one of the special excitements of gardening isn't it.

I've never grown from seed, so I was shocked when I saw our leeks pop up... cool I thought - holding a bought leek next to it to see how big it has to grow.

Then it unfolded - and doubled in height! Double cool

I hope you took a piccie
My OH took one of the firast seed to pop out at the lottie when we first got it. Sod's law it was a broad bean. Can't get the b***ers to germinate now.

I've just got my first seedling too... it's a cauli (all year round), and I was sad enough to take a piccie . Just want the rest to poke their heads through now.

I've just got excited about the first set of second leaves to appear on one of my tomatoes. I don't care if we're sad I just think it's amazing to see something growing like that.
