    Sunny U - bury them completely - they soon sprout through the ridge you build over the top. That short period of time between planting and them breaking through to the surface can have a few frosty snaps - so as soon as I see the leaves coming through I trench them up again.
    Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

        My first and second earlies are in the ground. Firsts have about a half inch now showing above ground.

          Just come back form easter in France and thought I'd share the jealousy. The garden centres (and some supermarkets) there are full of ready chitted seed potatoes in clever containers that protect the sprouts. Single layers of 24 seed, and multiple layers of up to 60 seed. Depending on variety the 24 ready chitted were between €3.99 and 6.99, the 60's were generally under €10
