Have just discovered chipped Mescathus (Elephant Grass) in bales at the local feed store. It's locally grown and according to the blurb on the wrapping, an ideal bedding material for all animals.
Bought a bale for £6.50 - £3 cheaper than wood shavings to try it out as an alternative bedding for the Big Bunny. Having used some of it today in the hutch, I suddenly thought how it could also be used as a path topper up the lottie. It works out as almost half the price of chipped bark and having put the rest of the bale onto my untopped paths I'm really impressed with how it looks and how much coverage I get.
You're all going to tell me now that you've been using it for years or that I should NEVER put it on my paths as Elephants will be springing up all over the place
