Regrowth after cutting - dragon palm?

I have one as a house plant that touched the ceiling a year or so back. I chopped off the top and it sprouted again from just below the cut. (Nearly at the ceiling again! Time for action I think!)

What time of year did you peform the surgery? (I assume now is a good time as the cut stalk is likely to re-sprout straight away?) And was your plant healthy and bushy and multi-stemmed before surgery? (I don't want to cut off two of the three stalks and for the remaining 5 leaves not to be able to provide enough energy for the resprout...)

I can't remember when - I think it was early summer. It had 4 stems and one I had to trim had come from the base and shot upwards. I believe they grow to 50 ft or more in the wild, so it had to go!

after cutting mine,i put it in warm bathroom,plenty of light and a 1/4 strength of tom fertiliser once a week,went from a top heavy plant,all out of shape to a lovely plant,i cut the main stem just above a ridge and it sprouted in no time (cut it in april)

I did this with a lanky Yukka that I was given, I 'capped' the top with wax, as I had seen them treated like that in shops. I just lit a candle and dripped it on the the cut surface, until there was enough to seal it.

Every summer I used to put all my houseplants outside, as we had a boiling hot south-west facing patio, and they loved it. One year we had an unexpected early frost, and I lost them overnight!

Well, I've cut one stalk now, so lets see what happens!

It was in the bathroom, but didn't seem too happy there (browning of the leaves etc.) so I've moved it to the dining room. Maybe I should wax the cut surface...
