I planted my earlies ('Rocket' and 'Orla') about a week ago, which was perhaps too early, but we shall see. I'll plant my maincrops ('Pink Fir Apple' and 'Picasso') in a week or so.

Historically we tended to plant out over Easter weekend as we had 4 days off work!
not very scientific - but it worked!!!

Last year I planted my first lot out in Morrisons flower buckets on St Patricks Day, but if the weather stays this cold I may wait a couple of weeks.

Surely using Easter is bit risky?
The earliest Easter can fall is March 22nd, the latest April 25th.
That is a whole lot of difference in growing times.
I was always told to plant on St. Patricks day, so mine will be going in the weekend after that this year.

I've only got earlies, so have already done one row , will wait 2 weeks then put in another row and then after another 2 weeks the last row. Hopefully they won't all be ready at the same time. I've followed Charles Dowding's method (he of the no dig fame) and planted them 4" deep with an extra 2-4" of compost on the top.

I have two potato bags in the greenhouse and the shoots are just poking through. I just have to remember to put the fleece over them each night.
