As some of you know, we created a bit of a growing area last summer in part of our field.
As we started preparing late, everything was late going in.
Now then- my dilemma is that we have an area 4' x8' full of baby leeks which were sown late April. - the best of them are pencil sized
So- if I leave them in- are they likely to bolt and flower ?( as technically it's their 2nd year).
I can buy 100 for 5 Euros bigger than them on the market which are meant for this year.
Basically I don't want to dig up if they should eventually do well- but can't afford the space just to 'wait and see' when for 5 E I have a guaranteed crop- on better prepared soil.
Gut feeling says dig up and eat what I can and start afresh
