I have sowed the seed. Some spindly looking things have emerged. They are still in the bottom heated propagator and I have no idea what to do next. I do not have a veg patch but hoped I may be able to improvise something for their developement. I do have some drainpipe can I use this and how?

Take them off the heat, and put them somewhere cool for a few weeks. They might thicken up a little if you're lucky.
Then plant them out in April (that's what I'm doing anyway)All gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.

They don't need heat at all and to be honest I've found that they prefer to be cold - mine were germinated in pots with plastic cloches over the top in the unheated greenhouse and the tops removed as soon as they germinated. Will be sowing some more this weekend which probably won't have the plastic over them as it's a lot warmer now.

Don't forget to harden them up a bit though Bren otherwise the shock will erm, well shock them!

How many do you have Brengirl? Are they in pots or cell trays? You could grow them in large pots, probably spaced 4 - 5 inches apart. Only half fill the pot to start with, and top up with compost as the leeks grow. It will be a while yet before they are ready to go into their final quarters though. They are quite slow growing.
