In my own right with stuff I grew myself for myself, I have come home with 8 firsts, 8 seconds, 6 thirds and 1 Highly Commended.
With stuff I have grown for other people and that I have staged in their names, I got a further 3 firsts, 6 seconds, 4 thirds and 1 Highly Commended.
I also won overall best exhibitor shield and best veg exhibitor trophy.

1st, 2nd & 3rd for Capsicums
1st, 2nd & 3rd for Chillies
2nd for Long Beetroot
1st & 3rd for Onions 250g ( was told later by an NVS judge that would do well in any show and that in his opinion I should have had 1st and 2nd)
3rd for Broad Beans
1st & 2nd for French Beans
3rd for Peas
2nd & 3rd for Shallots
1st for Cucumbers
1st for longest Runner Bean
2nd for Cherry Tomatoes
All the other cards were for non veg items such as HT Rose, and assorted preserves. Really chuffed with the onions results as if you include the onions that I have grown in my capacity as a gardener, I acyually got 1st through to 5th. The other results that pleased me most were the French Beans as I spent ages making up the two groups of six, and the cucumbers as the two I entered were the last on the plants this year as they finally succumbed to RSM.Rat

I'm well impressed
I did well in our show last year, but none of it was for veg. This year when I have some beautiful big onions and some perfect straight cucs, I can't enter 'em coz the show is on Grapestock weekend Ah well, 'tis all practice for next year

Ratty, everone has got everything crossed for you here Down On The Funny Farm.
Please let us know SOONEST when we can all un-cross arms/legs/hooves/udders etc., for reasons, quite naturally, very obvious my darling.
Well the Dahlias were fab I managed 3 1sts a 2nd and 2 3rds! Was over the moon, although I am a little gutted as veg done really well too and missed out on the overall exhibtor trophy by one point!! Not to mention if I hadnt forgotten to stage one of my exhibits I would have got two points extra as there was only one other in the class! Still I will do better next year, I have already started planning which dahlias etc to get.
Congrats Ratty bet you were really chuffed!

..... not that you're competitive or nothing candyblue, obviously?! Very well done, and I'd be jolly proud of that achievement if that were mine.
And I would LOVE to know what your exhibition quality choices of Dahlias you're going to grow next year so that I can look them up on t'internet, and use them for cut flowers in my own garden if I like the look of them enough, please/thankyou?

candyblue, you must be extremely proud of yourself.
Trousers is 'right there with you' on the missing out by a point or two, because he's convinced that where I was 'too rushed' to put my entry card under some of my exhibits, that then ended up not being judged in my name, and judged as '?' instead of 'Wellie', that I just about 'Whipped Their Arses'!!
Personally, having entered 54 classes, I'm just thankful that I got through the whole experience
.... and it's a good job you're up there in North Herts, and I'm down here on the Welsh Border, because I'd seriously have to 'watch out for you' otherwise!
Brilliant show results... hugely well done.X.Last edited by wellie; 14-08-2010, 11:13 PM.

King Rat or Wot....?
...and one might need to be a Radio 2 Listener of the Terry Wogan Brigade, to understand my inflection there?!, but that's not important right now.....
May I be the very first person, not to congratulate you, but to tell you right this minute, to go up those stairs to Bedfordshire, and get a sodding good sleep my darling! because if you're anything like me, you've been awake for months, no?!
You did amazingly, and the results say so, so beautifully.
Trousers has asked me to pass on his personal congratulations to you.X.
