  • White patches on seed potatoes

Hi, I'm very new to veg growing, but am giving potatoes a go in containers this year. I bought a pack of seed potatoes yesterday, but out of 22 in the bag 7 or 8 have small white patches, looks kind of like mould. And a couple appear to have been damaged when they were dug up as they have small cuts in them, one of them's going soft where the cut is.

Are these ok to use? Sorry if these are silly questions, but I really don't have a clue

Hi.Sure they'll be fine but that's quite a lot of containers. Have you not got room for a row somewhere?

        Thank you

Paul, I'm sharing them with two friends, so we'll have six or seven each. So the terrace won't totally become a potato patch. Although there won't be much terrace left by the time I've added the carrots, lettuce, beans and my boys' sunflowers! I may have to requisition another part of the garden
