  • Wrinkly potatoes

I've searched the vine and cant find an answer to my quandry so am trying you lot please! I got 5kg each of Charlotte and Rocket potatos back in December, left them in the cubbyhole in the hall until yesterday when I retrieved them to find extra long spindly shoots on them. Following Tattiemans advice on here, I rubbed them all off, but the potatoes themselves are very wrinkly and soft. Do you think its worth trying to grow them, or should I just give up on them and not waste the effort in planting them out?

I'll know better next year and won't buy until the spring ... and if I do I wont forget about them

    I'd pop them in ASAP!

Yup they would be better harder- but once the roots are established they'll romp away!

If you are short on space then I would leave then in a warm light place to see if they grow new chits first. There is still plenty of time to sow spuds and another 2 weeks and you will know if they are going to rechit.

Try spraying them with clean water everyday for a week and see what result it gives…

              Good to see you, moggy!

I'd cover all the bases - I'd plant the Charlotte (after all they have two choices) & and I'd chuck the Rocket out (as they taste of b*gger all to my gob), and get a fresh bag of something a bit more tasty.

Boil and mash 'em, it sounds like they're halfway there anyhoos.

I'd be tempted to start again.

Cheers guys! The Charlottes are in, the Rocket sitting in cool light kitchen to see what happens, and the fingers crossed!
