As well as the usual salad and herbs, we did water cress last year, agai needs loads of watering, but worked well and was really tasty. Good one to do as watercress tends to be really pricey up here.

I'd agree with Tamsin...what can't you grow in containers.
The pic shows some of last years crop in tubs: broad beans, peas, french beans, leeks, chard and celery. They were plonked down in front of the greenhouse but I had loads more stuff dotted all over the garden. I tend to reserve the main plot for staple crops like spuds, leeks, onions and carrots but I do like to grow as wide a range as possible. Needless to say the greenhouse was stuffed full of toms, cukes, peppers and aubergines, all in containers.Attached Files

I grow all my fruit and veg in pots. Anything put in the ground gets munched by slugs and I also have a dog who will lift his leg wherever he likes.
I have raspberries, strawberries and am experimenting with a blackberry. Not expecting a lot from that so I can only be pleasantly surprised if it does OK.
This year I will grow Tumbler toms, carrots, beetroot, french and runner beans, two different potato varieties and will try peas for the first time.
Can I put my beans in the same compost I used last year or should I use fresh?
I also buy weed seeds and grow things like dandelion, dead nettle, clovers, nipplewort, hedge mustard and loads of others to grow feed for my tortoise.

If you are going to grow veg in containers there are a few things you need to keep in mind.
Make sure the container is big enough and deep enough.
Feed and water the contaners regularly as they can dry out very quickly in warm weather.
Don't plant too many plants|seeds in the container as they will not achieve their full potential.
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.
