...... I needed some more sweetcorn seeds, as I only had about 6 left, and so I popped into B&Q.
The first time we grew sweetcorn was using one of B&Qs childrens seed collections which we'd got for our then 3yr old . They did incredibly well and so last year we grew some more but this time we used Suttons Sundance variety. Again they were really good.
Anyway, so as I was passing B&Q I thought I'd pop in and get some. The Suttons seeds were quite pricey (relatively speaking) and, being on a tightish budget, I decided to look at B&Qs own .
The first ones I found were the kiddies ones: F1 Jubilee, 40 seeds, use by 6/2011, 78p!
Being an adult I thought I'd better pick up the seeds in the 'grown-up' packaging, you know the ones with the sedate dark green packet and the corn on the cobs in a basket picture on the front (instead of a sunshine yellow packet and the cob with the - urmmm - fierce face as the picture).
Ok and here we arrive at the point of my little tale. As I mentioned up there ^ , the kiddies seeds were F1 Jubilee, 40 seeds, used by 6/2011 and cost 78p.
The 'grown-up' seeds were .................................... F1 Jubilee, 40 seeds, use by 6/2011 and COST £1.48!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As both packets carry the same money back guarantee, I'll be looking in the kiddies seeds first next time!
