A few questions for all you brainy grapes out there!

1. Strawberry plants. I'm planting them in a terracotta strawberry planter and some in hanging baskets. How many plants should go in the hanging baskets? The ones I have are mostly 30cm ones, although I have one 35cm one.

2. As above re: hanging baskets but for tomatoes.

3. I've set my seeds going in modules, one per segment. When I pot these up (before they go in their final hanging baskets), do I get most of the compost off or do I plant the whole thing, with all the compost that was in the pot with them?

4. Coffee grounds. Do I need to do anything to these before I put them round my veggie patch? And how thick does the stripe need to be?

Last point first...DON'T WORRY...it never helps anything...It will be fun even for a first-timer...plus you are in safe hands here...we'll coax you through.

1. 3 at a guess (no fan of hanging baskets I'm afraid...too much watering for me) no slugs though...unfortunately blackbirds fly.

2. 1 tumbling tom and a few marigolds maybe some other flowers allysum etc?

3. Normally I'd plant the rootball fairly intact...however you may require a certain size rootball if you want to get them through the holes in the side of a hanging basket

4. Make coffee?...thick as you like.... start with finger thick.

Thanks. I haven't thought of putting flowers in with my toms, sounds good.
They are container plants, think they're also suitable for baskets, maybe I should check!

And I've got some of that moisture-retaining compost for my baskets, hoping that will help a bit.
