  • Parsnips and MPC

Hi all this year I'm growing some parsnips, the ground is virgin as it was a neglected plot which i took over last year. The area I'm going to grow my parsnips had nothing on it last year,I'd like to add some MPC to the ground as its heavy clay

Will this be OK or will it cause me problems

    TIA

Get a crow bar, make a series of cones in the soil, fill each with compost...three seeds atop each one, thin to strongest seedling...show quality snips that you should be able to distinguish from the weeds when they come up.

Paulotties advice is excellent. MCP doesn't cause any problems with parsnips or carrots, it's fresh manure that causes forking and other problems.

        Ditto the above !
You have to loose sight of the shore sometimes to cross new oceans

I would be a perfectionist, but I dont have the time

If you have heavy clay dig in heaps of gypsum. It's a magnificent clay breaker!
Happiness is being with the love of your life. If you can't have that, then an unlimited supply of well-rotted manure is a pretty close second!
