do the yellow scabbard that was free with the magazine need supporting or are they a bush type. i have looked but cant find the answer

I bought a 'black' coloured small squash locally last autumn. I think it may be a Japanese variety. It was delicious and I saved seed which have germinated. No idea what will be the result.
