Chocolate and courgette cake?! Sounds interesting!
I was looking at sacks for spuds due to limited space, my patch is only 5'x3' ish so wanted stuff that can grow in pots/bags to do so, esp something big like spuds!
I got a salad leaves mix from Lakeland free with thier gardening mag and was going to have some in a tray on my windowsill, once I've got a tray that is!

If you have a small plot, try and think of growing things that climb as you get more crop for the space, think of growing up wigwams and think of sowing a quick crop like radishes under the wigwam that will be harvested just as the crop grows above them and cuts out the light. Mange Tout is an easy plant to grow up a wigwam. i have problems with peas but they always grow nicely. I have my mixed salad leaves in an old wooden wine crate that i have lined with polythene, i keep it in my greenhouse and it looks kind of rustic and is really practical.

Great Dolly, thanks! The other half is going to get me some trellis from work and my plan is to have maybe beans (prob runners) up the garage, maybe with some sweet peas.
I like these wigwams, will have a look at gc! Didn't think about growing something under it as you suggest with radishes; top tip!
Now my other half has joined in the plans for the garden we've got olive trees and chilli plants and all sorts being added to our list; my patio is gonna be like an obstical course at this rate; I'll have to be an olympic athlete just to get to my veg patch!
It takes as long as it takes
Quicker in sunshine, slower in the shade
Quicker if you add accelerators (urine, comfrey, grass clippings), and if you can turn the contents
It definitely should NOT be gooey and slushy. You need to wrap your kitchen peelings in a sheet of newspaper: that will add the "browns" that you need. A heap should be roughly 50/50 greens (peelings) and browns (card, paper)
