HI I was going to try earthing up spuds with straw, grass cliup[pings and cardboard as an experiment to see which works best as last year I spent a fortune on compost!! I was speaking to another allotment holder who said to be careful with the straw as it may have aminopyralid in it Does anyone know if this would still be the case if I bought straw for animal bedding or if you can buy organic straw?

Aminopyralid is supposed to break down in soil after about 6 months [according to some sites, personally, I have no idea how long it takes] As a mulch, I don't now whether it would leech into growing spuds, but would logically assume so.
You can buy organic straw, you'll have to find an organic supplier or farm
