Have just written a letter to Nottcutts at Cranleigh, Surrey explaining my 'disappointment' at the vegetables they were selling today. They had potatoes, about 6 - 8" high in pots. What's the problem? They were 6" pots and the labels said nothing about potting them on into suitable containers! £2.99 (I think) for a pot that will have no resulting crop if you know nowt about veggie growing. I think it is unlikely that there would be much of a crop even potted on as they were pretty pot bound.
They also had strips of french, runner and broad beans very pot bound and wilting along with very leggy, sad tomatoes. What a way to get beginners into the way of GYO. Grrrrr!
