I think I saw some in Rustylady's garden. Send her a PM if she doesn't come on this thread

Wow, TS I'm most impressed you didn't mention the S word

I grew some last year and it did quite well. Couldn't believe the root growth he had on his in that glass of water though, I potted mine up way before it got to that stage.

I grew some last year from seed, they did very well, but I forgot about them and the frost had them. I am trying to grow some more this year.

That reminds me, I have some seeds from the seed swap. I'll get them planted this evening. I have just moved the cues out of the heated propagator, so it is awaiting new occupants.
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

i have tried to grow them from seed, but they didnt really take off. watched the program last night, and have just come back from the grocery shop with some, which i have popped into a glass of water on my windowsill- they cost 65 pence for 2 stalks with bulbs attatched. what a bargain, if i get 2 good plants out of it! as an aromatherapist, lemongrass has long been one of my favorite essential oils, so looking forward to trying some herbal remedies with it.

I grew some last year, partly from seed and partly shop bought. Towards the end of the season I divided them up and put them in gh over winter. They seem to have taken so now I have double the plants.

Used to grow it in a polytunnel 10 years back did very well once it got going great clumps of it...died in Winter. I'm not an aroma therapist but do cook the odd Thai curry....interesting novelty but how much lemongrass do you really need?...didn't bother again.

can you keep it going on a windowsill in Winter?

Kinda. I've got a rather pathetic clump going from some store bought, glass-sprouted stuff, and it's hung on, despite low lighting and the cat.

I'm really p***** off. I bought 5 stalks just before Easter off eBay, direct from Thailand. Cost nearly £5 with postage. Just got back from my local 'very nearly a supermarket' shop where I bought another 8 - for £1.30. A few roots on the former and none on the new, but at that price it is worth trying. Can anyone tell me about how long to give them in water?
Why didn't Noah just swat those 2 greenflies?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

From memory I think mine took a week to 10 days on a sunny windowsill.
