Golden sweet mange tout support?

Hi All
Another daft question, I have tried the search facility but to no avail. I am growing above mentioned peas but can not for the life of me work out how to support them?

1. Do I just stick two posts in the ground and put some netting between them?

2. Make similar supports as I do for my runners and climbing french beans ie traditional wig wam type?

3. Or none of the above and some other method?

I get confused with all sorts of things including what netting how high do they grow and lots more my head gets pickled

I haven't grown this variety before but it was grown at the allotment on a neighbours plot. They had it grown up a wig wag of canes, it was abit top heavy but that might just of been that there were to many plants grown.

I go option 1 although I put a bamboo cane every foot. I then tie it to other structures with canes for strenght and to stop the wind blowing the lot over. If you're in a windy area tie the lot in with string as it grows to stop the wind blowing the peas off the netting!

Grows 5 - 6 ft for me, any pea/bean netting will support it, also canes and string though I found it pretty tedious adding the strings so that's why I use canes and netting.

I don't know if I have done right but I put 3x8' canes in the bed 2 foot deep. I then fastened netting to the canes so the netting is 6 foot wide x 6 foot high. Coincidently I planted 6 plants........6 must be my lucky number.......
I have another 6 waiting to go in.

Mine have just this minute been opened from Real Seeds.

It says 3 ft tall. So, mine will be sown in root trainers, and planted out in a block formation; with a cane at each corner and string at 1ft high intervals to hold them all in.

Thanks all I think I have a better idea and I like the 6 6 6 method mentioned above!

Third year growing this and never realised it wasn't a tall variety - Kelveldon Wonder always grow around 4-5 ft for me, all in the soil you see

(I'm lucky, ground was like that when I started growing here, My uncle regulary used to over winter cattle, many moons ago where the veg garden is)

That's why I like my cane method - if they get taller you can just pop another round of string round them to keep them all in.

Why can't I think of simple solutions.........most things I do require a toolbox.......it must be a man thing....

Mine have grown to fill a 6ft wigwam. They're getting the same again this year - 6 ft canes and me patent willow weaving!

I got my pea netting from wilkos and assembled today using old polytunnel poles pictures in my blog. Thanks everyone for tips and advive roughly 6ft in height so should be ok

It is a tall variety, made almost 6' last year for me. I haven't got the original packet from Real Seeds and it doesn't say on their web site but if you look on Dobie's site (as they also sell them) you'll see they're describing them as tall - Pea (Mangetout) Golden Sweet Seeds, Unusual colour! Vegetable Seeds so make sure you support well. I grow mine in rows supported by that plastic mesh stuff (about 2" square?) which is held in place with three canes for each 4' row with peas sown every 2 or 3 inches along the row. Works well.

I'm using that method for my own crossed peas Alison. It does work well but if you don't shove the canes in firmly they lean together a bit - mine do anyway!
