I have some suttons dwarf seeds and I was wondering if it is too early to start them off in my mini greenhouse (which is up against the house wall for protection). They are going to be planted out into raised beds.

I will be planting mine in about 3-4 weeks time, starting them off in a greenhouse and transplanting in late March. Wellie I know started hers off at the begining of January and will plant them out this month with cloche protection.

If you can give them some protection from the worst of the weather, plant away Kimbo.

Go for it, Suttons is fairly hardy. I've been thinking about planting mine, though this early I always plant the seeds in pots indoors. When they are grown big enough to plant out you can always put some fleece over them if it is still cold.

I have got some plastic bottles to use as cloches and some fleece on hand just in case

I have two double rows, one started off in a cold frame the other straight from seed.
Been out in open since before christmas. Some are 10" tall. Had one or two slight frosts and seem to be OK!
All uncovered but can cloche if needed.
The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.
