I don't (any more) grow the stuff I don't like. I used to grow parsnips because everyone else in the family liked them. Then I thought, 'To heck with it - let them grow their own!'
      Nasty old biddy ain't I?

I'm not a huge vegetable fan, but I thought that I might like more if I've grown them myself.

So so far, of things I know I don't like or think I don't like:

cucumber (growing it for the budgie)
tomatoes: I have never really like toms before, although I like pasta sauce!
courgettes: Had them every day ay Uni, so I may just have got sick of them

Things I'm growing that I'm not sure I'll like: pumpkins and squash. Never tried them.

But to be honest, I'm unsure that anything will work out as it's my first year

I like to serve p******s ( nope- still can't quite bring myself to type the word- although the therapy is starting to help!!) and curley kale to my French friends- cos as far as they are concerned it's cattle fodder!!!!

No wonder they think British food is rubbish!!! ( must be my cooking skills!!!)

Don't know what I grow that I don't eat. Won't grow rocket (fit only for slugs), spinach, brussels (I like them but Mr Frosty will divorce me if I either grow or cook them), cabbages (I've given up fighting Cabbage Whites), radishes (what's the point?). I'm growing Lime Basil but it'll probably become infested by white fly. I grow courgettes but only to throw into something tasty (cause they are never really tasty - bland, bland, bland, bland). Growing Huckleberries but I expect to be disappointed like the Wonderberries).

Aubergines - don't like them unless hidden well in something tasty, but thought I'd give them a try this year, just incase home grown and fresh off the plant is much better. OH isn't a fan either, so if they still are not to our taste, will be hunting out for recipes that you can hide aubergines in - I hate waste, so we'll just have to eat them.

Having just been out to repot my tomatoes, I think I'll be failing on tomatoes as well this year

Well we bought 2 Ja's last yr and tbh i didn't really like them but hubby kept several tubers so we could grow them again this yr -maybe the taste will grow on me!! Peas have been a diaster in the past but detemined to succeed so have bought the same ones that sister in law has success with last yr -2 varieties. waging war on caterpillars and slugs this yr with my salad leaves and have them in a cold frame wrapped in debris net - will take the lid off when weather warms up as it's a homemade one but deterined the b****rs won't win this yr. Hubby insists on trying all sorts of stuff that we don;t know if we like even though no spare space

What do I grow that I don't like?! Where do I start...?

                          Cabbage
                          Kale
                          Brussels sprouts
                          Broccoli
                          Any lettuce that isn't iceberg
                          Peas
                          Sweetcorn
                          Mini sweetcorn
                          Peppers
                          Chillis
                          Tomatoes (unless they're cooked)
                          Pumpkins
                          Squash
                          Courgettes
                          ...

I actually dislike any vegetable with a really strong flavour, and so the only way I eat all of those things ^ ^ is to heavily disguise them in soups & stews, or with a lot of mayo

It's almost guarenteed that all of those disliked things will grow better than the stuff I really like, like carrots, celery, cucumbers etc.

I'm kinda so-so about Brussels Sprouts (that's reformed from the previous position of "Sprouts are Satan incarnate. They are little bundles of pure, undiluted evil.") and certainly wouldn't go out of my way to eat them, but a few people I know are nuts about them. I'm growing a couple of varieties to hopefully get a harvest lasting from October to February.

I could take or leave parsnips but having a pop at growing some of them - again for people who are really keen on them.

That's probably the nearest I'm getting to growing things I don't like. Everything else I'm putting in is either something I enjoy eating or something I'd like to try (and will have to if I'm going to make it through the year eating only home-grown, in-season greens).

I am lucky because there is not a single vegetable that I dont like (that I can think of anyway). My main challenge is space and ability/knowledge (lack of all three) - that is what is most likely to make things end in disaster for me. But at least I will have had fun trying!

On, and time. Time always seems to be in short supply...

I'm not too keen on beetroot or parsnips but I am giving them a go in the hope that homegrown tastes better than shop bought - everything else I love.
