Another person here who chitted in paper towel, ten seeds with 100% germination. Sown when little tail was about a quarter inch, now sprouting nicely.

I don't, as other people have said sweetcorn seeds rot really easily as it is.

Hmm, I've a feeling mine will rot then, dammit! I've no more loo rolls, I think I may have watered my compost a bit too much. I'll see if I can scrape the top off and put them out in the sun to dry out a bit if it's not too late.

If you have ran out of loo rolls then make paper tubes. I stopped using loo rolls, the snakes like them so they get them now, when I went over to making paper tubes from old news papers. A bit of flour and water glue and I can make them to any size I need.

I soaked mine but when it came to sowing I just gently pushed them into the surface but left them uncovered, when they sprouted I topped up as the seedling grew. Though I only had a 70% success on the germination.

I had 100% germination last year (don't recall other years) and from a look at my trays today, I THINK there'll be similar this year - most are just through.

I've never soaked the seed. Good luck!
            100% as of this morning!

Waiting for my Strawberry popcorn seeds to drop through the letterbox now...
