  • Victorian Kitchen Garden

    Hi Grapes

I was watching a program on TV about a Victorian Kitchen Garden and it mentioned a type of Pea
I cannot remember the name but would reccognise it if mentioned
The pods were very long and very full and held 10 - 12 peas it was a marrofat pea (That i do remember)
Just wondering if anybody saw it and can remember the name

    Cheers
    John

Oh yes, it will be repeated. Just wait a few weeks and it will be on one of them along with Victorian and wartime kitchen. Just love them and will watch just so I can listen to him talk. Takes me back to my childhood, listening to my two Grandfathers in their gardens.

Worth checking on Amazon as the various series are still available on DVD, e.g. Victorian Kitchen Garden for £12.94 at
The Victorian Kitchen Garden [DVD]: Amazon.co.uk: Peter Thoday, Harry Dodson: DVD
Evidently one of Amazon's best selling DVDs which says something...
Harry Dodson died in 2005, what a gent.... From the Victorian Kitchen the slightly formidable Ruth Mott had an assistant "scullery maid" who suddenly popped up on email fairly recently, now living in Canada... A magical series, perhaps would make a lovely surprise birthday gift to a gardening pal...? bb.

Of course it was Harry your right, but then it was Dodson

I had an art tutor once called F. Dobson hence my confusion (and clarity!!!)...excuse my middle age dementia.

The Victorian Kitchen Garden did wonders for the sales of Ne Plus Ultra peas and was also the instigator of my interest in Seakale and Cardoons!

I was so enthused I bought the DVD!!! (Now where did I put that DVD?)

I've been watching it lately, I have been so enthused I went and bought some Blenhem orange melon seeds yesterday and promised myself I'd build a mini melon house.

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.
