Best Greenhouse Tomato varieties for a novice grower?

Hi All

This year I am the proud possessor of a brand new greenhouse (Built with much care and 'tension' last Autumn) We are digging down and putting in raised beds of yummy soil and compost for our first attempt at Greenhouse gardening - Which varieties of Tomato would you recommend for a good crop? I have bought 3 'Shirley' and 1 Sungold as they were suggested in my greenhouse book but I have room for 3 - 4 more plants.

Any advice appreciated !

My Gardeners delight did really well in the green house last year. But i have tried loads of varietys of beefsteak and they didnt do too well.
Im sure though that someone with a bit more knowledge will be post soon

Try Latah. Early heirloom variety : tough as old boots...the plants that is..

And Sungold - wonderful flavour.

If I grow any tomato then I always make sure one variety is Tigerella, one of the earliest to crop and I never seem to have any or many issues with it.

I have always found 'Shirley' very reliable and this year I am trying 'Sungold' and Tigerella'. For cherry tomato 'Sweet Million' did well last year and was very tasty.

Looks like I will be on the hunt for Tigerella to add to my Shirley and Sungold. but will also check out the other varieties mentioned if I have enough room.

You need to decide what sort of tomato you want first then look at what options there are. Some of the old varieties are very good like alicante and gardeners delight.
