  • First pickings!

Yesterday we had a (very small) contribution to our salad with the first pickings of lambs lettuce, spinach and rocket leaves. I'm feeling very proud

Yay! What a fab feeling. So far only my toddler has had anything (half a leaf off a few of the spinach seedlings and a couple of small bits of brocolli).

It's so exciting isn't it? No matter how many years you've been growing for, that thrill of the little seedings coming up, and the first tastes of things - just wonderful.

My salad leaves are in a big plastic propogator thing outside and it was doing rather well but obviously it got too hot in the recent clement weather and it is now all white and crispy and not very edible. Oh well.
