Sowed some Early Nantes carrots about three weeks ago. Covered them with a mix of compost and sand. Theres still no sign of them and OH wants to give them up as a bad job and start again. Is he being too impatient?

Carrots? Along with parsnips - not for the impatient veggie grower! Sow radishes alongside if you suffer from this problem! At least you'll have something to look at to distract you from the carrots not showing yet!Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

I wouldn't give up yet. If you are thinking of resowing do so in between the original rows without disturbing the original rows. That way you are still giving the original rows the best of chances and at the same time hedging your bets with the new sowings.
