I am totally new to gardening but wanted to try growing in pots. Could you please tell me how deep my pots need to be for brussel sprouts? I've started them off but don't know when to pot them on.
Many thanks
Use tubs about 1 foot deep and 1 foot diameter and you can grow 3 good stalks in there if you fill it with a good multi purpose compost and water well.
I used to grow all my stuff in pots before I built all my raised beds and had great sucsess. Courgettes, Tomatoes, Potatoes, Sweetcorn, Carrots, Spinach, Lettuce, Cucumbers and cabbages to name just a few.
The main problem is the control of watering, too dry or too wet and it can be a disaster. However if you can spare a bit of time each day to check on this you should do very well.
Good Luck

Because any brassica has a lot of large leaves that transpire water at a rate of knots, you will be making yourself a slave to the watering can. You would probably be beter with a John Innes soil based compost as MPC would be hard to compact.............ie giving blown sprouts!
