Hi all, a quick question on when you're allowed to start picking your rhubarb. We planted a crown last year and didn't pick anything. it's doing really well just now...stalks about 18" long, lovely and pink...are we allowed to pick anything this year? I've read different advice around the place about leaving it 2 years or even longer before taking any. It's so hard to just look at it!

I cheat and, when the stalks are nice and large but still juicy I take just a few off in the second year, just to make sure that it hasn't been contaminated you understand. I also take a few apples off apple trees, a few pears off pear trees way before I should. Get the picture?
Why didn't Noah just swat those 2 greenflies?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

How about picking some by accident, Mac, and then say sorry to the plant by giving is some feed and water later in the summer!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?
