First lot sown have their true leaves, second lot are just poking their heads up and third lot are still sleeping. That's enough parsnips for the time being.

I have 2 lots of seeds on plates covered with cling film (one in the lounge on a radiator and one on a windowsill), one lot in a plastic takeaway container in the airing cupboard, one lot in a plastic bag on a windowsill (all on damp kitchen paper), one lot in loo rolls in the greenhouse, one lot in loo rolls in the kitchen and one lot sown at the lottie in soil warmed up with very hot water from my flask. Total seeds germinated = zero.

                  Certainly a mixed response lol,

I cut the bottom off Morrisons flower pots and sited them on the raised bed. I have 4 pots at the moment and as it still doesn't seem too late I will try some more.

Same as G4's, however mine last year direct sown took 2 months to come up so patience everyone. Once they did, they grew fantastically and tasted brilliant

Well my first sowing went into the ground on Saturday (made deep hole with a dibber and filled it with compost then station sowed 3 seeds to each 'hole' - worked a treat last year) and now I have the agonising wait for germination (or not!!)....I love parsnips so failure is not an option (no pressure there then!). THEN I had a moment of genius (perhaps...) has anyone sucessfully germinated and planted on parsnips in root trainers??????

I've considered it, but been told they don't like disturbance. My other problem is, whilst I have about 12 trays of rootrainers, that's only 384 cells, and I have about a million Parsnip seeds

Next year I'm going to have another addiction, and see what keeps arriving anonymously in the post!!!!

Hate to rub salt in the wounds but I have two rows of them currently. 1 row about 8" tall and the other about 2" but both with true leaves
