Two and a half weeks after sowing outside all the seeds appear to have germinated and are popping up. Good mix of warm weeather and a downpour at the weekend did it I think.
Only problem is a nearby rhubarb has gone crazy and half of them are now in the shade. Harrumph.

Mine were sown about 8 weeks ago, and are now healthy little seedlings of about 3-4 inches, all with their true leaves.
Was showing a French laydee round the veggie patch yesterday, and she didnt have a clue what parsnips were.

Mine are about the same size as brens - direct sown... the others I started off in loo rolls and then transplanted without the loo rolls (as a test) are probably twice the size

Did mine in loo rolls and had excellent germination. They are out on the lottie now but only just getting their true leaves. Still I find that once they start they take off like rockets.

My self-sown parsnips are that tall: one particularly precocious one is over a foot. They are coming up all over the shop, following a path where I dragged the seeding parent up over the beds to the shed end last autumn

I am a pudding brain. I sowed parsnip seeds in a tray of small cells... even though I had it in the back of my mind that they are said not to like disturbance. They are coming up nicely in their cells after a week of seeing nothing. Going to sow more this weekend as have a pile of loo roll inners to use up.

A couple of mine have come up, but the biggest died last night for some reason, I didn't think parsnip seedlings were bothered by the cold....
Maybe a slug ate it without eating the leaves, or a cut worm thingy got it, annoying anyway.
Then the cat decided to wriggle under the wire on the bed and do a massioove poo, digging up two more seedlings.
That leaves me with a total of 4 out of 30 atm.

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.

After reading the pots was a bit worried but hey presto after a few weeks a full row of nice seedlings (phew!!) now going to push my luck and stick another row in!!
First time I have tried the parsnips but all the family love them so maybe a few more rows will go in.
