I have a lot of psb which I sat in the ground in the polytunnel and now want to plant out. Because they're not in trays I cant harden them off and the weather here is breezy and cold at the moment! Will the shock kill them if I move them? Should i wait for warmer weather or should I move them and then cover them with fleece or are they tough enough to survive!! The plants are about 6 inches tall and sturdy looking. In future is it better to plant in trays? When I set the seeds directly in the ground outside I find the slugs make short work of them. Thanks!

seeing as they are only 6in high, you could hedge your optians, try 1 or 2 with a large rootball into big pots, just for hardening of,put some straight outside, they are very winter hardy plants, and some people sow the seeds in the soil to germinate,so my guess is that they would be fine, remember to firm&puddle them in well, the experts will be along soon, sigpicAnother nutter ,wife, mother, nan and nanan, love my growing places, seed collection and sharing, also one of these
