We didn't get a frost here on the Yorks. coast. Don't know if Flum, who I think is a few miles inland, although to the south of us, did. My min-max says no lower than 4.7° last night. And I just got back from walking Ed and it is a very pleasant morning. The screamingly cold northerly wind we have had for a few days seems to have died. Or maybe it's just having a quick snooze.
Why didn't Noah just swat those 2 greenflies?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

Was flipping cold here this morning with a light frost. Bringing the entire contents of the GH indoors was probably overkill though

LOL Fi! That's the way frost panic takes you though, innit?! No real sign of a change to warmth and sunshine yet awhile damn it.

When I first saw widespread frost destruction in plants I'd left out in the greenhouse by mistake, I realised there is no overkill

Woken to bright sunshine here in Essex. Saw the original post as about 9.45 last night and started fretting about my container tubs and runner beans. OH thought I was overdoing the worry business though!!
Anyway, pretty well dark so rooted around in the shed for fleece and managed to get it all covered although the runners are having to put up with a very large piece of fleece that it looks like mice have been removing lumps of for nest building so big holes in it.!!!
Goodness knows what any of the neighbours would have thought if they'd seen someone skulking around in the garden.
Some of the spuds have lightweight black ground cover over them so I'd better nip out soon and show them the light of day.
And guess what - no sign of frost here at all. Still better safe than sorry. Today I shall be better prepared and do it all in daylight.

Our weather is surprisingly different for just those few miles. It was half a degree above freezing in the cold greenhouse and half a degree below outside! Chilly-willy or what? I had decided to move the tender stuff to the garden room - less light but double glazed - overnight. It stayed at 5degrees in there.

Been ferrying tomatoes in and out like no-one's business. Totally forgot about the tatties and pretty much everything else.

No frost as far as I can see though, so I think I got away with it this time.

I fleeced everything, just in case, but I didn't get up early enough to notice if we had frost! It is still very chilly here though.

BK, I think you'll find Metcheck's site always crashes on Bank Holidays. I don't think there's anyone there to put an extra Hamster in the wheel on Bank Holidays!

I was a bit alarmed at 5.30 this morning when I saw Mr S was scraping ice off the car but fortunately all my babies appear to have survived the night outdoors
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

I've bought my toms, chill, aubergine and cukes in the house and left my spare plants fleeced in the greenhouse. they take up too much space now every thing's in larger pots.

My greenhouse went to 1.9C overnight but everything has survived. I am seriously contemplating growing arctic vegetables next year. Siberian cabbage anyone?

This constant yo yoing back and forwards to the gh is doing my head in! It was really cold today in the wind and some of my plants are at a stage where they could do with planting out. I've got flowers on the cucs and some on the toms! Are we going to see any summer? Goes off to have a strop!
