I can't grow courgettes, pumpkins or sweetcorn anywhere near the dog - she eats the lot.. I have had to buy standard gooseberry bushes as she was pulling the gooseberries off and playing with them before eating them lol! I ended up fencing off the plot so that the dogs and chickens cannot get to them!
I caught my dog eating strawberries directly from the plant last year - I was not amused!!
In the end i cordoned off the decking as that's where the strawberry plants live. The dog soon got the hint and didn't touch them after that. He was also told "no" everytime he even sniffed any of my garden plants!!
My dog has pulled out a lot of my turnips and kohl rabi2 in the winter. He plays and chews them. He has not noticed my runner beans yet. keep finger crossed.
My dogs eat anything edible....they pick their own fruit and veg...apples, raspberries, strawbs, blueberries...all beans, cucumbers, toms, sprouts, broc.....Can't help but smile though!!!
Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!
Always aim for the best result possible not the best possible result Forever indebted to Potstubsdustbins
We are putting a fence across part of garden we are growing veg/fruit in. My dogs love carrots and apples way too much! They didn't steal too much at our old house, but not taking risk in new place.
Walking into the garden I see my german shepherd casually eating all the leaves of my runner bean plant!
Anyone had the same problem, how to prevent it?
thought i was the only one.
my german shepard (casper) started by licking the runner bean leaves now he eats them had to replant my spare ones and put items in front of my raised beds to stop him (easier to deal with slugs lol )
Taff, my blessed old Border Collie, used to pick raspberries so delicately from the canes. I let him be, knowing that one day I would give all I have to see him doing it again.
Meanwhile a bit of wire.netting and a few stakes would save all the other veg!!
Our yorkshire terrier eats pansies (if she can reach the pot!) and the other one a rescue Tibetan terrier x digs up my beer traps- she does love the wild strawberries but so far hasnt touched my large ones-mind you its been raining for quite a while now, happy gardening to you all:
