  • Dogs eating leaves!

Walking into the garden I see my german shepherd casually eating all the leaves of my runner bean plant!

Anyone had the same problem, how to prevent it?

I can't grow courgettes, pumpkins or sweetcorn anywhere near the dog - she eats the lot.. I have had to buy standard gooseberry bushes as she was pulling the gooseberries off and playing with them before eating them lol! I ended up fencing off the plot so that the dogs and chickens cannot get to them!

Same here - we have to cordon off all fruit and most veg, if they see us picking anything then it appears that it is then up for "canine foraging"

I caught my dog eating strawberries directly from the plant last year - I was not amused!!

In the end i cordoned off the decking as that's where the strawberry plants live. The dog soon got the hint and didn't touch them after that. He was also told "no" everytime he even sniffed any of my garden plants!!

My dog has pulled out a lot of my turnips and kohl rabi2 in the winter. He plays and chews them. He has not noticed my runner beans yet. keep finger crossed.

Jake jumps up and picks apples off the tree, our old dog used to get the toms as soon as they turned red.Had to fence them off.

My dogs eat anything edible....they pick their own fruit and veg...apples, raspberries, strawbs, blueberries...all beans, cucumbers, toms, sprouts, broc.....Can't help but smile though!!!

We are putting a fence across part of garden we are growing veg/fruit in. My dogs love carrots and apples way too much! They didn't steal too much at our old house, but not taking risk in new place.

thought i was the only one.
my german shepard (casper) started by licking the runner bean leaves now he eats them had to replant my spare ones and put items in front of my raised beds to stop him (easier to deal with slugs lol )

My dog like to dig up my beetroot and eat it.
The only bonus is i know when its ready as she waits until it is a good size before digging it up

Taff, my blessed old Border Collie, used to pick raspberries so delicately from the canes. I let him be, knowing that one day I would give all I have to see him doing it again.
Meanwhile a bit of wire.netting and a few stakes would save all the other veg!!

My German Shepherd loves to "peel" Swedes. She doesn't eat them, just nibbles all the skin off then moves on to the next one. What's that about?

Sorry that should have been swedes with a small S. The other kind would be a bit messy. Apologies to any worried Scandinavians.
