Holiday help!

Hope you can help us, we're going to Florence later on today and get back Tuesday night - we're currently dithering over what to do with our seedlings that currently live indoors. We're not sure whether to leave them inside without being watered for a few days, or put them outside on the patio and risk bad weather/birds etc. We've got the following:

Tomato plants
Leeks
Onions
Pepper plants
Squashes

The tomatoes, leeks & onions are pretty much ready to be planted out when we get back, the pepper plants are still really diddy, and the squashes haven't even germinated yet.

We'd be v grateful for any advice on this, we don't really want to come home to find they've all died!! We're leaving at 3pm today (I know, bit last minute to be asking!)

Leave them on a capillary mat (or failing that a folded towel) that has been wetted thoroughly first. It may tide them over until you return. For a couple of days it shouldn't matter to the plants that they are not in the sun so if you have a shady bathroom or kitchen it should work. I have done it myself and although it is possible for the plants to gets slightly too wet (leave the [B]plug out and the tap on drip!!!)[/B] for a couple of days it should be OK. Hope that helps

Put them all in the bath with a bit of water in the bottom and the plug in. The squashes that haven't germinated will be fine without - there should be enough moisture in the compost until you get back.
