I thought that garlic needed a period of frost to make it split into cloves and not just end up like an onion??

It needs a period of cold, not necesserily frost and I assumed polytunnel wasnt heated.

Your garlic will be fine outdoors KittyKat. I would keep the polytunnel space for something that needs it. If you get it ready 2 weeks earlier does it matter ?

                        garlic

It has been in the tunnel since october , when I just put in to see what would happen, the tunnel is unheated.

....... but not necessarily tastier. My best garlic is grown outside. It is small but very strong tasting. The ones I grow in the polytunnel grow faster, and give me a nice supply in early summer, but are certainly not as tasty.

                          Good luck!
