  • Bottling it

    Bottled it last night.

I debated with myself leaving everything in the greenhouse and coldframe, after all it was only forecast 3c lowest and there was almost complete cloud cover.
Then I decided there was too much work to chance it and spent 25 minutes bringing everything into the back porch overnight.

Result? -2.5 on the veg patch, potatoes (not covered) frosted, everything else nicely covered, are OK.

    Forecast -1, 0 and 0, the next 3 nights!

I have been doing the same Womble, my living room has been looking like a jungle!
Decided to risk it the last couple of nights and left everything int the greenhouse with fleece and all has survived thankfully!

I'm in frost confusion hell too......Planted out my borlotti (unfrost happy) beans at the allotment yesterday, thought the temps SURELY couldn't be dropping down to freezing in mid May.....only to read that next 3 nights the temp is down to 3 degrees - I've got EVERYTHING crossed that its not so cold in our street or that it only dips towards that at the worst (wishful thinking I know!!) as I have potatoes on the plot that are in full swing and way to far to be earthed up completely and too large to cover efficiently.....oh please let there be cloudy skies for the next 3 nights to trap some warm air in or I'm doomed!!!!

It looks like being really cold tonight, anything not tucked up and warm could be poorly in the morning.
I might get round to covering the potatoes tonight whoops, thought quite whether it's worth it now.....

This is what did survive last nights -2.5c though. Dwarf French beans, under net curtains and fleece, French beans just coming through under cardboard.
Two courgettes under fleece and plastic, tomato under a bottle cloche.
And the ends of my oca just peeking through seem to be ok as well, but I'm covering them up tonight.
