Seeds not taken

Out of my 9 pots of lettuce seeds only 6 have taken. These 6 are doing very well. Do you think the other 3 I should throw away or do you think there will stay take? It has been a good 4 week now.

Just wondered as this is just one example - I planted 9 cauliflowers and 7 took which I am very pleased with but holding on to the other 2 with lots of hope!

Shall I empty the pots of the ones that have not taken - to make room for other things?

If it's been four weeks since the others came up then there isn't much chance they'll come so I'd throw them and plant something else. The exception to this would possibly be chillies which can be very random.

If they were grown in the same conditions as the others, then I don't think there's much hope. Chuck the compost, wash the pots, and start something else.

Remember that lettuce seed won't germinate if it's too hot. It's a cool weather crop really

I had 10 pots with a sweetcorn seed in each, only 4 germinated, within about a week of sowing them about 6 weeks ago. I was just about to give up on the rest and one poked its head out at the weekend!

Thanks - I did throw some out today to make room for some other plants I wanted to sow. Kept a few - you never know like you say they may well appear!
