well rotted horse manure

Hi i managed to get myself some well rotted manure and i have a question. what can i actually plant in the beds i have added it too as ive been told that cabbage etc dont like it!

Horse manure is acidic so brassicas such as cabbage, which like limy (sp. limey?) conditions, don't like it.
Potatoes love it as alkaline conditions promote potato scab. You could also grow:
Tomatoes
Peas
Beans
Aubergine?
Blueberries
Cranberries

Probably others, that's just what comes to mind.

Depends a lot on whether you have just piled a layer on top of the beds, or whether you have actually incorporated it into the soil.

I would say anything bar carrots and parsnips!

All the "hungry" stuff, so yes Squashes.Courgettes etc. Sweetcorn is also I believe a heavy feeder.

i have put pumpkin and rhubarb in well rotted- back to soil- horse muck. the pumpkins are doing well the rhubarb is not doing so well, but may pick up as only put it in a week ago. gooseberries are doing well at the edge of old muckheap.

in half soil and half muckheap soil, in tubs, i have put strawberries, various lettuces and salad, tomatoes, and leeks, and they are all doing very well. tomatoes and strawberries already have quite a lot of flowers on them + one tiny little strawberry! swede i put plugs into a half manure soil mixed with equal sandy soil and compost. only did this last weekend, but they are looking very happy so far. hope this is of help to you.

ps. the rhubarb which i tub planted in a fifty fifty mix of back to soil manure , and shop bought compost, is doing really well.
