My courgettes, pumpkins, cucumbers and squash were in the greenhouse under fleece, but that still wasn't enough I've lost all the crystal lemon cues and the marketer ones too, no seeds left of these, so I won't have any outdoor ones. The indoor ones were inside the fleece tent for the tomatoes so it looks as if they are OK. I had 3 pumpkins, and they all look fine, as are the winter squash, but the courgettes, (romanesco, black beauty and tuscany) have had it. I've got seeds of those, so I'm re-sowing today. The butternut squash, Harrier made it Huunter didn't, so I've only got 3 instead of 6. I will be re-sowing those, but as I wanted a long growing season
The beans are fine, both the runners and the climbing french, as are the chillies, so I am surprise at loosing so many cucurbits. I'm just glad I didn't take the chance and plant out last weekend. Last year I had stuff out 3 weeks before.
I just hope the fruit blossom is OK.

I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

Me too, I've been worrying about that, it does seem OK atm, which is good news.

Sorry to hear about the rest of your stuff, I had 2 courgettes that survived outside under heavily fleeced covers, I was suprised. Not sure the reason yours died while mine didn't.

I have a half allotment and a little 7x5 temporary plot somewhere which is full of first time allotmenteers like myself. There were some potatoes that had gone at the half plot site but not much else. Temporary site was full of devestated potatoes, sweetcorn, beans, courgettes and tomatoes, not a pretty site. I hadn't put anything tender out so was fine apart from a tiny bit of potato leaf that had poked out.

Heavt frost here, had a load out in a protected area, hardening off and although it only freezes there in really cold winters the frost got in. Lost courgettes, beans, and squash and 10 Garden Pearls. Luckily all the rest were in the conservatory, but will need to resow some stuff.

A frost here but luckily i cloched my courgettes yesterday and the rest of the delicate stuff is in raised beds and they avoided the frost!
Mind you had to dash up to the plot this morning as the sun was quite warm and the courgettes were wilting in the heat!!

Can't win this time of year!

I got hit the night before, it wiped out all but one of my planted out 6 inch high runner beans.....I live in the South East and have never lost plants to frost at this time of the year in the last 20 years, there has been the occasional light frost which in the past the runners have managed to live with.....

Bring back global warming I say!!

Last night we had -4.1 outside and -2.6 in the greenhouse. The latte was lagged with newspaper at the sides and a tent of fleece over the plants. A couple of toms are frosted where the leaf touched the glass on Monday night (when it was very similar in temperature). I have hopes the rest are ok - as are the chillies and cucurbit 9 these only have seed leaves showng anyway).
Everyone's spuds hit at the allotments. They can recover I know, but our crop will be later than we'd hoped.
I always take frost precautions till the end of May but -4 is ridiculous!

It won't hurt to sow more. They may not recover. If they do - you've got extras!

All ok here so far. Have a heater in the greenhouse for the past week and put fleece over the plants as well. some toms with small fruit on and some chillis with buds.,
My potatoes are outside in tubs fending for themselves, so far so good. lashing rain here now with a very cloudy sky so hopefully it won't be a frosty night.

We had a pretty severe frost here. (Don't know the temp) . Poatatoes at the lottie have been caught a little round the edges but they are well earthed up. I think we are in a pretty sheltered spot especially with having hedges that are now nicely filled out. One of the other ladies up there seems to have had her spuds hit bigtime but her plot is much more open.
Everything at home seems to have survived even the osteospurnum that I'd planted out. One gherkin in the gh looked a bit sad but had perked up when it warmed up in there.

Again I have been blessed. -3 here in Melksham when I went to work @ 5.30. Some of the plots on allotment were hit but I seem to have survived again. It looks as though that was the last frost for Wiltshire for the next 5 days, hopefully that will see the end of them this side of summer.Mick

Looks like we're through the worst of it for now and I've managed not to get too much damage. Everything in the garden including the greenhouse and plastic zip up are all OK but I have been taking things inside over night this week. Was more worried about the lottie but was pleasantly surprised to discover today that everything in the polytunnel is fine and the only damage was very slight frost damage on the edges of the outdoor potato leaves but the middles are fine so I'm not worried and it sounds like I've been very lucky.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
