I lost virtually all my leeks last year to leek moth, having had no problems at all the previous year. Does anyone have advice for protecting against a repeat this year? Is there a season for this little devil?

Can you tell us where you are, I'm sure we'd all like to know where leek moth is up to on it's UK wide domination timetable.

My allotment is in Oxford. Thanks for the tip about looking on the web - unhappy to see this can also affect onions and garlic but I reckon I got hit by the second wave of this pest, in late summer, rather than by the May-June infestation. am going to check my onions and garlic this weekend, though, and will definitely protect the leeks with enviromesh in late summer.Comment

I had my leeks under debris netting last year, but the moth still got under the gaps.

Checked one of onions at home as the tops looked 'chewed' and found a number of these sods inside the leaves.
Just hope the ones at the lottie don't get it.Comment
