I am in the south of England and my carrots have been covered with a small poly tunnel they have been in since 14/3/10 and have not germinated what might be wrong? They are 4 different varieties. Can any one help?
I've got three lots roaring away in containers which were kept in the unheated greenhouse. Those sown in the outside soil are really struggling due to the cold but they have finally germinated. Roll on the heatwave
I planted some in a large round pot on legs (like) a cauldron and they have come through. It was next to my fence so it was sheltered.
Also put some in my plastic greenhouse but only 2 show through so far but the ones in my also sheltered raised bed...nothing!!!! I planted 3, 18" long rows as a trial but there's nothing to show at all. I'm guessing the slugs got em if they ever showed at all.
Its nice to be important but its more important to be nice
The ones in containers were started off in the greenhouse and are now about 3" high the ones out on the lottie were started about 10 days ago when the weather was nice and warm and the forecast was good, they have all come through and clearly visible. Don't think there is much chance of germination after so long Kimbearly. Get a fresh packet and try again. I have in the past had to resow a couple of times. Try to sow with a good weather forecast I.E. high night time temps.
