Good luck. If we all liked the same things us older, slower ones would get killed in the rush!

moldy quiona!!.....and u gotta wash it loads.

        Hi there,

Ive gown quiona for the first time this year, and have had to harvest it early as i got a sort of mold growning over the heads. any suggestions? also about the bad taste......ive read here.. Gardening Pointers! On Growing Amaranth and Quinoa Organically that you need to wash it, and wash it allot to remove an outer layer called saponin. commercial stuff you buy has had the removed already, but homegrown you gotta do it yourself!

I've never thought about growing Quinoa, I eat alot of it, it makes a great porridge substitute (with lots of cinnamon and apple) or with feta and olives at lunch, and a great way of getting some protein in the diet.

I will go add it to my seed list for next year, if I could have a few pots of it dried to take us through the colder months, it would be a great step towards being more self sufficient.
